Synopsis

For centuries, the kingdom of Crenne has balanced on the edge of a blade, bound by a truce with the dragons. To keep the peace, they have given their daughters – princesses - to the Dragon God Rhaedros, an offering to soothe the rage of a beast whose brother was slain by their human army.

But when Princess Lyanna, the daughter of King Edward and Queen Isla, elopes into the night with her liver, Kaela, her faithful maid, is forced to go in her stead. But Kaela has seen her entire village swallowed up by dragonfire and she vows never to bow to their kind.
